Unique to the 4th Diaspora Day celebration is that it heralds an era of a global Nigerian Diaspora stakeholder partnership as diverse Nigerian Diaspora Community Organizations under the aegis of Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) in the Americas, Europe and Asia join hands with the Central Association of Nigerians in the United Kingdom (CANUK), Nigerian Peoples’ Forum USA and Organisation for the Advancement of Nigerians USA.

2008 Diaspora Conference Communique from Tinapa...- click here

3rd Nigeria Diaspora Day concluded in Tinapa, Calabar

The 4th Science and Technology Conference and 3rd Nigeria Diaspora Day has just concluded in the historic city of Calabar, which took place from 23 – 27, July, 2008.

The 2008 Conference was a follow up to the four previous conferences which were all held in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital.  The theme of this year’s conference was Nigeria and the Diaspora: Utilizing Science and Technology to Drive Vision 2020.

Watch out for the details of the just concluded 2008 Tinapa Conference to be published soon.

DIASPORA CONFERENCE 2008 TRANSPORTATION ARRANGEMENT TO CALABAR AIR/BUS SERVICE TO CALABAR

In our last communication and update, we among other issues, provided
information on how to get to Calabar, the venue of the 2008 conference.  We
indicated that three Airlines namely: Arik Air (from Abuja) and Aero with
Virgin Airlines (from Lagos) fly the domestic route to Calabar daily.

2. The above notwithstanding, enquiries have been made about the possibility of
arranging for an Executive Coach/Bus Service from Abuja to Calabar, a journey of
about 8-9 hours by Road and a good number of Diasporans have expressed their
preference to travel by road to Calabar.    We believe that such arrangement
can be made if a reasonable number of participants can sign IN to it.  Police
security escort will be provided to accompany the delegates to Calabar. Those
who desire to travel to Calabar under this arrangement should indicate so.
They should make their travel plans to arrive Abuja on or before July 22nd so
as to depart for Calabar in the morning of July 23.

Air Service
For those who desire to travel by Air from Abuja to Calabar, we are equally
exploring the possibility of arranging a charter or extra flight on Wednesday
July 23, 2008 from Abuja to Calabar.  All those who also wish to travel to
Calabar via Abuja by air should equally please indicate so immediately.

3. As time is of the essence, we urge all registered participants who are
desirous to take advantage of any of the travel options to urgently forward
their names to the NNVS.  Whether by road or air, everybody would be required
to pay N11,000 being cost of return ticket by road and N41,000 by air.

It is important to stress that this arrangement will be feasible if enough
people sign on to them.  But if for any reason we are not able to get the
number that would make a Coach load, we would inform you to make alternative
plans for the onward journey to Calabar.

Finally, we wish to remind all intending participants who have registered for
the conference of the need to send in their flight particulars via e-mail
amuziebc@yahoo.
com.  This is to enable us make arrangement for hotel
accommodation which will be allocated strictly on First come, First served
basis.
